After thrilling over 200,000 fans last year, the four daredevil freestyle motocross (FMX) exponents will be back. The world’s No 1 freestyle motocross series – The Red Bull X-Fighters – is set to thrill Sri Lanka fans yet again.
The event will take place at Galle Face Green on Saturday afternoon on 30 July 2011. This year’s spectacle will be a ticketed affair with the tickets being priced at Rs.500 for grandstand tickets and only Rs.100 for normal tickets and free for children under 12 years of age. The fearless four comprising of South African Nick De Wit, Belgians Jim-my Verburgh and Gilles Dejong, Swedish Daniel Bodin will arrive in the Island five days prior to the event.
They will once again bring a slice of the world class FMX action from the Red Bull X- Fighters World tour, which has been thrilling hundreds of thousands FMX enthusiasts around the globe since 2001, to Sri Lanka for the second time.
De Wit, who was one of the first professional FMX riders to come out of South Africa remarked, “The sport of FMX is getting really huge all over the world.
The reaction we get everywhere we go for exhibition tours have been phenomenal.” Red Bull X-Fighters will have a workshop with the armed forces and Police to further develop their skills.
Red Bull X-Fighters is the biggest FMX series in the world, taking the 2011 Tour to Dubai, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Poland and Australia.
