The month of February is known as the season of love with good reason – the exchanging of love and appreciation amongst couples, families and friends are encouraged when Valentine’s comes around.

Treating one’s beloved to a romantic dinner has become part of celebrating the modern Valentine’s Day. Food nourishes the body and the mind, while love feeds the heart and the spirit.

This February 14th, couples celebrated their love at a five course special menu hosted by the Pearl Restaurant at the Ceylon Continental Hotel. Romantically situated by the side of the Indian Ocean, the sold out Pearl Restaurant offered an exceptional atmosphere through the time honored tradition of the romantic candle-lit dinner-for-two.

Couples, who were awed by the romantic ambiance as soon as they entered the heart shaped entrance. Every lady was welcomed with the gift of a beautiful red rose, made available by Second Chance and photographs were taken of each couple, capturing their poignant moment in time.

In true spirit of Valentine’s Day, couples were free to choose their preferred seating option, whether under the stars, enjoying the scenic beauty of the ocean and sea breeze at the Terrace, or indoors under the cool conditions of the Pearl Restaurant.

Couples were treated to a five course sit down menu with complimentary champagne cocktails. The Valentine themed menu included a spectacular variety of dishes; the location made the romantic celebration all the more inviting through heart shaped balloons, and themed table decorations. All couples were given a box of chocolates at the end – a fantastic conclusion to an unforgettable Valentine‘s Day.

Guests were serenaded by live band music from Fantasy.

In addition, the winners of the raffle draw won two vouchers, making them eligible to dine at the Emerald restaurant with their partner again.

The first and most valuable prize of the night, a gold pendant, was sponsored by Mallika Hemachandra jewelers, main sponsors of the night.
