Chrissy Rozairo, a pioneer and well-known figure in the hair and beauty sector of Sri Lanka, is not only a proud owner of two exclusive salons but is also a skilled educationist, having ventured into her own hair and beauty academy a few years ago.

“Our clients are those who look to us for advice and guidance in embellishing their happy and special occasions, so it is important that we know what is best for them,” said a smiling Chrissy, having spent close to two successful decades as a talented hairdresser and beautician adorning many a beautiful bride along the way.

Having been inspired by an aunt and sister Philo, and along with her inborn talent and determination Chrissy had officially begun to make an indelible mark in the hair and beauty industry of Sri Lanka with a SLECC Bridal Fair.

It was the very first instance in Sri Lanka that every aspect of a bride was displayed at a single event. “From then on, it has been an unstoppable journey for me,” stated Chrissy, during which she has truly flourished while also contributing immensely to the local industry.

“Today, the industry is at a peak and is raising its standards by the day; but there is still more room for improvement. In order to take this sector forward what is most important is that each and everyone involved be armed with proper educational qualifications,” explained Chrissy.

She lays emphasis on the importance of education, as a beautician’s or hairdresser’s work often involves various types of chemicals and other material that are helpful in enhancing one’s beauty and if misused can also be detrimental to one’s health.

This is a key focus area of her academy where she herself personally attends to most subjects and passes down a wealth of knowledge in order that her students follow the correct path to success. Her unique efforts are made evident through a number of awards won by her students augmenting the pursuing of their careers successfully not only in Sri Lanka but beyond its shores.

“Brides today are quite fashionable and updated so in order to cater to them you have to be on par with what is happening internationally and your service needs to be of a high standard,” added Chrissy, elaborating on her attempts to keep up to date with the current trends in the International arena.

Chrissy once again prepares to display her valued expertise at the fashion show organised by the Bride and Groom Magazine for the sixth consecutive year where she will adorn her brides in the Kandyan, Western as well as Low Country traditions. Models will be adorned with jewellery from Stone N String and flowers from Marie Samarasinghe. Photographs will be taken by Prishan Pandithage.

Having come a long way, Chrissy presently serves the third generation of her early clients and is proud of the trust and goodwill that she has been able to obtain from her longstanding clientele.

“I have had some tough times and I have worked very hard to achieve what I currently have, but it gets better every day and I am extremely happy about what I have become and my journey so far,” she stated.

Chrissy is quick to acknowledge the vital role played by her competent staff who have contributed towards the overall success of her Salons and Academy.
