Cinnamon Grand rolls out a festive December

The halls are decked with boughs of holly, the doorways are adorned with decorative wreaths, the spaces ornate with the joyous spirit of the season and Santa has taken his seat in the lobby! Hark. It’s a traditional Christmas at Cinnamon Grand. Enjoy a series of indulgent festive events as we roll out December 2013. While this may be a good enough gift for our older patrons, we haven’t forgotten the children, who we cater to ardently this time of year. Santa will be visiting the hotel’s lobby on 21, 22 and 23 December, between 6.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m., especially to meet, greet and wish everyone a happy Christmas. (A nuts trolley and mulled wine will be served during this time). Santa’s Workshop The popular Santa’s Workshop will give children an opportunity to enter Santa’s enchanting home and spend a fun filled day engaging in fun, creative, entertaining and educative activities. Held on 17 December, the workshop will be held in two sessions (9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.), for children aged between the ages of six and twelve and priced at Rs. 2,500. The goodies hut will open its doors on 3 January, selling an array of delectable seasonal treats, from 10.00 a.m. to 12 midnight, all December long. The Christmas Carnival, held at the hotel’s poolside will recreate the North Pole, combining the magic of Christmas with that of a carnival, in one grand seasonal celebration. It will offer an array of fun rides and games for children, a range of delectable food and drink items, a series of entertainment activities and a relaxed setting for parents to enjoy a poolside drink or two, while their kids have a ball. Priced at Rs. 2,500 (adults) and Rs. 2,000 (kids below 12), it is on 21 December, from 6 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Moods of Christmas Moods of Christmas, a soulful choral performance by Soundarie David and the internationally acclaimed Soul Sounds will be held at the hotel’s Atrium Lobby, at 7.30 p.m. on 22 December. Tickets for the first 10 rows will be sold at Rs. 3,000 with the rest of the rows, at Rs. 2,500. The Chinese Christmas buffet, which gets better every year, is on from 06 to 30 December at the Courtyard Restaurant. Gather your family and friends for an oriental feast that will provide a twist to the seasonal usuals on the dinner table. Priced at Rs. 2,500 (adults) and Rs. 1,500 (kids below 12), the all-you-can-eat buffet is on from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday and till midnight from Friday and Saturday. Diverse cuisines Usher in the merriest day of the year by spending its eve at Colombo’s best five-star hotel, with a selection of diverse cuisines available at its eclectic restaurants. The Taprobane will lay out an international Christmas buffet, at Rs. 5,200 (adults) and Rs. 2,750 (kids below 12). The first sitting is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a second sitting from 9.30 p.m. to 11.30 p.m., for those who prefer a later option. The London Grill offers a seven course gourmet set menu, from 7 p.m. to 12 midnight, at Rs. 8,000, offering fine dining at its best. However, if you’d rather have an Italian buffet, then enjoy Christmas eve at Echo, from 7 p.m. to 12 midnight, at Rs. 4,500. The Cheers Pub will also offer a traditional Christmas buffet for Rs. 4,000, from 7 p.m. to 12 midnight. Notably, the same menus are available in all restaurants, at the same times, for the mentioned prices, for dinner on Christmas day, 25 December (with the exception of Echo). Enjoy a magnificent lunch on Christmas Day with your family at the Taprobane’s International Christmas Buffet, for Rs. 5,200 (adults) and Rs. 2,750 (kids below 12). The first sitting is on from 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. But if you’d rather feast later, then you can make a reservation for the 2nd sitting from 1.30 p.m. to 3 p.m. If you prefer a more informal, laid back setting then the Cheers Pub will lay out a traditional Christmas buffet, from 12 noon till 3 p.m. priced at Rs. 4,000. Range of celebration options Come 31 December, the Grand offers a range of celebration options to ring in the New Year in style. Apart from the Grand NYE Party in the Oak Room, the hotel’s restaurants will serve an array of outstanding cuisines, offering for a grand end to the year. The Taprobane will wow you with a gala buffet that will leave you spoilt for choice. Priced at Rs. 6,000 (adults) and Rs. 3, 500 (kids below 12 years), the 1st sitting is on from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The 2nd sitting, from 9.30 p.m. has adult tickets priced at Rs. 7,000. If you prefer to end the year with the finest of fine dining, then London Grill’s eight course gourmet set menu, for Rs. 12,000 (7 p.m. to 12 midnight) is just the thing for you. If a more relaxed atmosphere is your thing, then try out the traditional British buffet, for Rs. 5,000 at the Cheers Pub, from 7 p.m. till midnight. The Italian buffet at Echo for Rs. 6,500, the South Indian buffet at Chutney for Rs. 4,500 (adults) and Rs. 2,500 (kids below 12) or the seafood infinity buffet at Lagoon for Rs. 7,500, all starting at 7 p.m., affords you the option of indulging in something different, as the season draws to an end. Meanwhile, the hotel’s fusion restaurant Tao will offer a six course fusion feast, for Rs. 5,500, from 7 p.m. till midnight, affording al-fresco dining at its best. You can welcome the New Year and party under the stars at the poolside, as the NYE Pool Party kicks off at 9 p.m., to the grooves of DJ Out Burst. All dinner ticket holders at the Taprobane, London Grill, Tao, Lagoon and Chutneys are entitled to the pool party and the raffle draw.  If you’d rather dawn the New Year on a quieter note, then the hotel’s lobby will serve up drinks and canapés for Rs. 3,500.
