Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo Christmas buffet takes a traditional turn

Dining at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo’s Christmas buffet is nothing short of spectacular.  Lead by Chef Wasantha Pieris, the hotel’s team of culinary geniuses invokes an array of festive dishes guaranteed to delight.  

On the 24th of December, the Christmas Eve buffet at The Dining Room sets the tone for the season with a splendid family feast.  Tickets for the first sitting from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm at Rs. 3,800 and the second sitting from 9.30 pm onwards at Rs. 4,200 all inclusive are available at the Special Events Desk.  

When Christmas Day finally arrives, the hotel lays out another spectacular feast at The Dining Room at Christmas Lunch.  The feast begins with assortment of appetizers from homemade liver pâté with cranberry marmalade, shoo lobster, clams, mussels, prawns, cuttlefish and oysters with accompaniments, marinated prawns, spicy mixed seafood, smoked chicken, salami and smoked beef with pickle, prawn and avocado cocktail, assorted shooters, a selection of international cheeses and Parma ham with melon to an assortment of sushi and sashimi with accompaniments.

The feast continues with a variety of salads such as seared tuna tataki with teriyaki sauce, Waldorf salad with smoked duck, Thai papaya salad, Vitello tomato, Tandoori seafood salad, balsamic grilled vegetables and many others.  The delicious Norwegian smoked and marinated salmon with traditional accompaniments promises to satisfy.  

A French onion soup with cheddar toast and roasted aubergine soup with Cajun spices provides a belly warming interlude before moving on to the main course where the Pan fried sea bass in green sauce, Chicken Cacciatore, New Zealand crispy lamb Singapore style, seafood with Szechuan black pepper sauce, carbonnade of beef, Yeung Chow fried rice and spicy Singapore noodles await.  Treats from the Indian kitchen include Vegetable biriyani, Kadai mutton, broccoli with cauliflower gratin, buttered exotic vegetables and green pea and cashew curry.  At the carvery, guests will be greeted by roasted U.S Tom Turkey with accompaniments, honey roast ham with green apple sauce and Australian sirloin with béarnaise or red wine sauce, whilst prepared à la minute, the batter fried prawns with hot garlic sauce are always popular.

Topped by a dessert counter brimming with seasonal specialties such as Christmas pudding, mince pies, Dutch breudher, Christmas cake, Yule logs, stollen, love cake, date & ginger cake, tiramisu roulade, banana surprise, wine jellies, homemade ginger ice cream and coconut ice cream, festive cookies and macaroons, this will be a Christmas to remember.  The Christmas Lunch buffet is priced at Rs. 4,200 all inclusive from 12.00 noon to 3.00 pm.

Celebrations continue at The Dining Room’s Christmas Day Dinner with another feast of traditional treats to share with family and friends.  The first sitting from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm    is priced at Rs. 3,800, whilst the second sitting from 9.30 pm to 11.00 pm is priced at Rs. 4,200.
