Colombo Courtyard celebrates a carbon neutral Earth Hour

Colombo Courtyard in collaboration with Carbon Consulting Company and their invited guests from leading industrial and corporate bodies joined in celebrating the Earth Hour concept on 29 March. Honoring the pledge, all electricity was shut off at the celebration time between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Colombo Courtyard and Carbon Consulting Company were proud to formally announce the hotel’s status as South Asian’s First Carbon Neutral Hotel. This allowed the hotel to join the elite group of companies to have been certified by the internationally acclaimed Carbon Neutral Company in UK.
Speaking on the occasion, COO of The Carbon Consulting Company, Sanith de Silva Wijeyeratne, said: “Being a part of the worldwide initiative enables us to create greater awareness among the local marketplace of the importance of fighting climate change. We are extremely happy that many of our clients have chosen to introduce this initiative in their own companies as well as to join us at this unique city hotel, the first to be certified CarbonNeutral in Asia.”
Representative of Sri Lanka’s community celebrating the Earth Hour program enjoyed a specially created menu by Colombo Courtyard in the calm ambience of oil lamps and candlelight. The entire in-house hotel guests joined the celebration and congratulated Colombo Courtyard for making this event a success in their initiative to contribute towards environment.
