Creating awareness on people with special needs

A seminar to create awareness about people with special needs titled ‘Your Special Child, Challenges and Resources,’ organised by a group of parents, will be held today, commencing at 8.30 a.m.



The seminar which is intended to benefit parents, teachers and caregivers of persons with special needs, will deal with common conditions such as Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and their causes, medical issues, psychological aspects, coping strategies for parents and also practical aspects such as speech therapy, occupational therapy and educational matters. Leading professionals in the field including, a consultant paediatrician, a psychiatrist, speech and occupational therapists and an educational psychologist will address the seminar.

This full-day seminar is free of charge and will be held at the Auditorium of the Cathedral of Christ the Living Savior (next to BMICH) on Bauddhaloka Mawatha. Lunch will be provided. Participation is by prior registration.
