  •  Wedding Show in Sri Lanka organised by Bride and Groom Magazine wows audience at Water’s Edge
The ‘Designer Wedding Show 2013’, Sri Lanka’s bridal fashion show, showcasing the most well known names synonymous with weddings in Sri Lanka, was hosted at the Waters Edge Grand Ballroom on Sunday. The event, held for the fifth consecutive year, was organised and presented by the ‘Bride and Groom’ Wedding Magazine. Staying true to its word, the event showcased the leading trends and set the stage for new designs and ideas for the next year. The show featured designs of Michael Wijesuriya, Ramzi Rahaman, Premsri Hewawasam, Dhananjaya Bandara, Sithara Fernand-opulle, Ruchira Karunaratne, Janaki Kurukulasuriya, Bernie Balasuriya, Thusitha Ethugala, Sumudu Wasantha, Geetha Boderagama, Romesh Atapattu and Lonali for Anim8. The designs were not merely limited to bridal designs but also highlighted the up and coming trends among men’s wear. Hair and makeup artistes complemented the creations by adding that extra élan to the show. As on previous occasions, designers’ creations included both western – mostly in elegant gowns and suits – and traditional attire suitable for the Kandyan, low country and Hindu weddings. “I’m proud that we at Bride and Groom Magazine put this show together for the fifth consecutive year. This event has helped bring together so much talent and creativity from wedding professionals who complement each other’s work. Sri Lanka’s wedding industry is taking off and spearheading this change is the designers and artistes who are adding that extra something special all couples and their families aspire to have. We are glad to create the stage where all this creativity is shown and the trends for the next wedding season are determined,” said Bride and Groom Magazine CEO/Managing Editor Pramith Mallawaratchie. The principal sponsor of the show was Micromax, Main sponsor Premshri Hewawasam Academy, Mal-Key-Rent-a-Car as Official Transport Provider, Poru as the Official Floral Partner,  Imtiaz Asian Designers, and Chandana Wickramasinghe and the Dancers Guild as Co-Sponsors along with media sponsors E Fm. While all event printing was done by Anim8, the impressive stage and lighting was done by Kashyapa Sounds and Lights. The coordination of this event was assisted by Rozanne Diasz. Featured photographers at the event included Kushantha of Studio U, Preveen Rodrigo and Dylan Seedin.
