“Colours of Culture” – Pakistani Week at the Galadari

The Pakistan Embassy in association with the Galadari Hotel invites you to indulge in weeklong celebration of the splendour of Pakistan that brings together a culmination of food, fashion and tradition. Come experience the grandeur of Pakistan at "Colours of a Culture" from 20th – 26th February 2011.

Ancient and mysterious, Pakistan’s history depicts a rich diversity, which is greatly reflective in its people and culture. Thus, these influences are seen in its cuisine which is a refined blend of various regional cooking traditions of the subcontinent.

Combining these rich flavours, the Galadari Hotel is proud to host a "Pakistani food festival" as the highlight of "Colours of Culture" from the 20th – 26th February 2011. With authentic ingredients sourced directly from Lahore, the hotel is committed to present a richer, fuller mouth feel of exotic flavours prepared directly by master Chefs of Avari Hotel Pakistan, flown in especially for the festival. With daily dinner buffets throughout the week, the hotel prepares itself for the flamboyance of Pakistani delicacies giving the guests an array of popular, delectable dishes.

With daily Gazal performances at the Center Lobby and handicraft stalls that promise everything from beauty, dignity and style all items reflect hereditary skills and intricate craftsmanship. Thus, the ambiance is set for a rich evening of "experiencing Pakistan" in all its splendour.

The festivity sets off with "Qawaali", a traditional form of Islamic song that traces back to 8th Century Persia. Today "Qawaali" is enjoyed by people of all faiths, bridging a social cohesion through devotional music. Ghulam Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad, two well known, internationally acclaimed Qawaali singers will be the core limelight of "Colours of Culture" on the 21st of February as they perform recitals at the Grand Ballroom. The duo have been performing professionally for the last 30 years, representing Pakistan throughout Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa. These well versed musicians are veterans in classical music scene including traditional ragas which they blend beautifully into their Qawwali performances.

The grand finale of "Colours of Culture" begins with a fashion show by Talat Hafeez Khan a renowned Pakistani fashion designer. She is well known to blend the traditional with the more chick and extravagant modern day Pakistan in her clothing. "Tania’s Collection" that will be showcased on the 25th of February, sees a clear fusion of modernity and tradition brought together in creating that perfect attire for the unpretentious side of every woman.

Bringing together the richness and grandeur of an ancient, exotic land, "Colours of Culture" seeks to reach out its splendour to all communities.
