Sri Lanka recently played host to 33 contestants vying for the Miss France 2014 title, a part of the competition’s six-day pre-pageant tour of the island which concluded on 21 November 2013. These contestants, representing virtually every part of France and its territories, were also joined in their wondrous Sri Lankan adventure by Miss World 2013 runner-up, and reigning Miss France 2013, Marine Lorphelin.
As the country’s truly unique, home-grown beverage, Elephant House Ginger Beer, popularly known as EGB, was one of the proud sponsors of the Miss France organisation’s tour of Sri Lanka and its natural wonders, helping bring the best of this fertile and multifaceted island to the world. This tour also facilitated the Miss France 2014 contestants experiencing many local delicacies, including EGB and EGB Light soft drinks, which soon became firm favourites of this glamorous contingent.
Furthermore, the Miss France 2014 pre-pageant tour of Sri Lanka also featured over 20 international journalists, ideally positioned to garner positive visibility for this island. In addition, the winner of Miss France 2014 is expected to re-visit the island and take part in a number of publicity generating events to further the cause of Sri Lanka on the world stage.
“We at Elephant House are proud to be a part of Miss France 2014, which is so much more than a showcase for the internal and external beauty of its contestants, with many considered role models in their homeland. It is also another fine opportunity to highlight locally unique tastes and flavours including EGB, which is sourced from local, all-natural ginger farms,” said Ceylon Cold Stores PLC (Elephant House) Head of Beverages and John Keells Holdings PLC Vice President Chandima Perera.
