For all pet lovers in and around Colombo, here’s a chance to take home an adorable critter to love and care for.

Known as TNL Radio Network’s most successful CSR initiative to date, Puppy Love - Pet Adoption Drive is set to spread slobbery puppy love with Colombo tomorrow at the Sathtu Uyana Grounds.

Held for the second time after a successful first round in 2009, TNL along with PetsVcare and The Lucy Trust is geared to give more homeless pups and cats new homes and all animal lovers unrequited love.

Speaking to Weekend FT, Business Development Coordinator of TNL RN Minusha Wickremesinghe stated that the idea was formed when brainstorming for a CSR initiative for the company.

She said: “TNL’s CSR arm, known as TNL Action, two years ago decided to give this idea a try. The underlying reason being that this was something we were all equally passionate about. At TNL, we are all animal lovers,” Wickremesinghe said.

The first adoption drive was a resounding success with all animals brought there finding shelter before the end of the day. Some 55 pups and 10 kittens found new homes and owners.  She said: “Many ended up taking more than one home. It’s impossible not to have your heart melt as the homeless puppies and kittens look up at you with their big, adoring take-me-home eyes.”

This year, its going to be even better, she acknowledges. “It won’t just be from PetsVcare and The Lucy Trust so many other organizations working for the same cause such as Embark will bring in their strays to Satutu Uyana as well. And if anyone has picked up any dogs and cats from the streets recently but has no place to keep them, they can bring them in and wave bye-bye when they find other loving homes. It’s about spreading love and joy. Animals are joy-givers; as such we are looking forward for a better turn up than the previous year and a lot of barking and meowing to go around.”

To be held tomorrow from 1.00 p.m. onwards Puppy Love 2 - A Pet Adoption Drive requests all animal lovers to come in, pick a favourite before heading home.
