“It has a captive market, yet everybody thinks it is a nightclub. Glassé is a restaurant first, which happens to be a lounge bar on the weekends. We want people to understand that Glassé has a restaurant and a very good chef who has worked at Nobu in Dubai for many years,” he stated.
Commenting on the night’s event, Wickramarathne said that while people usually do wine tasting with European cuisine, this was very different.
“I think this is the first time a wine and food pairing event is being held in Sri Lanka with Japanese food. There’s no exact science for wine and food but we’re all about pushing the envelope and trying new things. At this event, they will be introduced to the Japanese food they probably didn’t know Glassé had. It’s all about trial and error – experimenting and enjoying.”
Hospitality Consultants will be launching another fabulous experience come February 2014: an experimental gourmet wine and spirit tour on the Viceroy, which is something exciting to look forward to in the new year.
