Hemas Hospital’s international accreditation renewed

Hemas Hospital – Wattala, the first internationally accredited hospital in Sri Lanka successfully completed the review and compliance audits carried out by its accreditation partners, the internationally-recognised Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI) recently.

The team of auditors was led by Marilyn Sneddon, a well experienced senior auditor and surveyor attached to ACHSI, globally recognised as a leading body for hospital accreditation with a strong presence in Australia, South East Asia and South Asia.

In 2011, Hemas Hospital became the first hospital in Sri Lanka to be recognised with an international standard and ever since, the hospital has maintained the acquired standards in delivering the quality patient care and best clinical outcomes.   

Expressing satisfaction at the renewal of the accreditation, General Manager of Hemas Hospital –Wattala Dr. Samanthi de Silva said that accreditation is important to any hospital since it is a hallmark of the highest standards of service, quality of patient care and safety practices. It is also proof that the hospital strives to deliver exceptional patient care as it takes pride in ensuring that everyonewho steps in experiences the best in healthcare and hospitality, she added.

Hemas Hospital stands out in the industry as the only hospital to have an international accreditationrepeatedly two years since first reaching the milestone.

Meanwhile, Hemas Hospital successfully completed the periodic review audits for occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001) and laboratory quality standards (ISO 9001) as well recently.
