Once again, HNB Assurance has stepped forward to honour three legendary artistes for their outstanding commitment to the Sri Lankan society and culture. This felicitation was performed recently at HNB Assurance’s ninth Annual Sales Convention held at the Hilton Hotel, Colombo. The selected artistes were two giant figures from the world of Sinhala theatre, Nissanka Diddeniya and Anula Bulathsinhala along with Mekhala Gamage, who is sightless but always carries her listeners to a bright world filled with hope. In addition, a group of differently abled youth being trained by Sunera Foundation in performing arts was also rewarded for their perseverance amidst hardship.
HNB Assurance Managing Director Manjula de Silva stated, “It is a privilege for HNB Assurance to reward legendary icons of yesteryear for the immense contribution they have done over the years. These artistes have committed their lives for the uplifting of arts and brought joy and happiness to so many people during their long careers. Their hard work and dedication towards the arts should be recognised and we are planning to continue rewarding such deserving artistes in future too. This time, we also thought of adding a unique artiste who has demonstrated the ability to rise above physical limitations and a group of similar youth who have expressed a great desire and commitment to acquire new artistic skills.”
The heart touching performances of the artistes and the team from Sunera Foundation during HNB Assurance’s 9th Annual Sales Convention held the entire audiences spellbound and became the highlight of the evening.
