‘Hunger Games Catching Fire’, an American science fiction adventure film, will be screened in Colombo at MC-Ultra Cinema from today. The film is imported for screening in the country by Liberty Cinemas.
Based on the novel ‘Catching Fire’ by Suzanne Collin, the film is the sequel to ‘The Hunger Games’, and the second instalment in ‘The Hunger Games’ film series.
The film is directed by Francis Lawrence, with a screen play by Simon Beaufoy and Michael Arndt. Jennifer Lawrence returns as Katniss Everdeen along with Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Willow Shields, and Paula Malcomson also reprising their roles.
The film begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a ‘Victor’s Tour’ of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games, ‘The Quarter Quell’ – a competition that could change Panem forever.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was released on 15 November 2013 in Brazil, 20 November 2013 in Finland and Norway, 21 November 2013 in the United Kingdom, and in IMAX on 22 November 2013 in the United States.
