Theatregoers are in for a relaxing and fun filled evening when Indu Dharmasena’s romantic and hilarious comedy, ‘It’s All or Nothing’ takes to the stage at the Lionel Wendt on 9, 10 and 11 November 2012 at 7.30 p.m.

The ninth performance is presented by the Bamunuarchchi Foundation where the proceeds will go, in aid of the proposed new operating theatre complex of the Homagama Base Hospital. This is phase two, stage one of the Ran Mehewara Project.

This comedy has been adapted from a Georgette Heyer novel and was well received by the Colombo audiences when first staged in the late 1980s.

The story revolves around Kumi, the adopted daughter of the late Charles Suduwella, a wealthy philanthropist. As the result of the unconventional will of the late Charles, poor Kumi finds herself in a rather awkward situation.

The will states categorically that unless she marries one of Charles Suduwella’s nephews, his wealth should be donated to a stray animal’s fund. The will further states that she must make her choice from one of the four eligible nephews within two weeks of reading the will.

So the fun begins. The same day the will is read, Kumi receives two proposals of marriage. Since he is already married, Nihal forces his brother Kamal to propose to her while Jagath arrives with orders from his mother to win Kumi’s heart.

Although Kumi has a crush on Rehan who also happens to be old Charles’s favourite nephew, he unfortunately is out of the country and completely unaware of his uncle’s death and the will.

Kumi fears that it might be impossible to contact him within the specified time frame.

So with the help of Priyan, the one nephew who is not interested in his late uncle’s wealth, Kumi embarks on a scheme which she hopes will secure her future with the man she loves.

The five nephews are played by Indu, Abbas Roz- ais, Charendra Dahanayake, Anoop Kapukotuwa and Anushan Selvaraja.

Kumi is played by Sanwada Dharmasena. Mrinali Thalgodapitiya plays the dictatorial Auntie Lala while Sanjana Selvaraja plays the poetry quoting absent minded Auntie Rita.

The good natured Brenda who is waiting patiently to marry her first and only love is played by Ruwendi Wakwella.

The lawyer is played by Yasal Ruhunage.

Tickets are available at the Lionel Wendt Theatre.
