Commemorating World Forest Day on 21 March, the CSR team of Kanrich Finance carried out a free plant distribution program on 19 March. Many environmental lovers belonging to various age groups gathered at this program which was held at Kanrich branches in Nugegoda and Kiribathgoda.
Kanrich Finance Chairman P.A. Pemathilaka and Kanrich Finance General Manager Eranda Amal Godage spearheaded the plant donation program at Nugegoda branch, while Kanrich Finance General Manager Aloka Wahalawatta and Kanrich Finance Assistant General Manager Shyamini Fernando headed the program at Kiribathgoda branch.
The program also consisted of a topical address focusing on World Forest Day by the President. Leaflets containing information on the medicinal and nutritional values of the distributed plants were also given to the participants and that fulfilled the educational purpose behind the program.
Forests are natural resources that demand much of our attention since they are an integral element essential to the existence of all life on Earth. But at present forests and trees are much threatened due to deforestation and industrialisation, though many nature lovers are attempting to minimise such disadvantages by adorning their homes and gardens with plants. Kanrich Finance being a company conscious of its corporate social responsibility of creating a better environment launched this free plant distribution project with a view to strengthening the bond between humans and nature by offering a helping hand to such individuals.
