Lanka Alzheimer’s Foundation presents public lecture by Dr. Chanaka Wijeratne on 6 January

To herald the activities of the Lanka Alzheimer’s Foundation (LAF) for 2015, LAF is proud to present a public lecture on Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) by well-known Dr. Chanaka Wijeratne at LAF’s auditorium on Tuesday 6 January at 2:30 p.m.
Sri Lankan born Dr. Wijeratne who subsequently migrated to Sydney, Australia was educated at Sydney Grammar School and graduated in medicine from the University of New South Wales. He trained in psychiatry in Sydney and in old age psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital, London.
His current positions are: Senior Consultant, Academic Department of Old Age Psychiatry, Prince of Wales Hospital; Consultant to the Health Program, Medical Council of NSW; and Conjoint Senior Lecturer, School of Psychiatry, UNSW. He is a past Chair, Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (NSW Branch).
He was the lead author on NSW Ministry of Health’s Assessment and Management of People with Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia, a Handbook for NSW Health Clinicians.
Dr. Wijeratne who is visiting Sri Lanka is closely connected with the Lanka Alzheimer’s Foundation and looks forward to meeting members of the public at his presentation.
