Link Natural Products hosts First International Herbal Medicines and Genomics Conference

Welcome speech delivered by Prof. Vajira H.W. Dissanayake, Director of the Human Genetics Unit – Faculty of Medicine – University of Colombo

The First International Conference on Herbal Medicine, Genomics and Drug Discovery was held in Colombo recently. Prof. Vajira H.W. Dissanayake, Director of the Human Genetics Unit (Faculty of Medicine) – University of Colombo and Prof. Priya Weerasinghe, Assistant Professor (Pathology and Laboratory Medicine) – University of Texas, USA, chaired the conference.

It was sponsored by Link Natural Products, the leading manufacturer in Sri Lanka for scientifically validated herbal pharmaceuticals and healthcare products. The conference brought together leading scientists in the field from Sri Lanka, USA and India.

The keynote address, ‘Discovering new drug leads through natural products repurposing’ was delivered by Prof. David Tweardy of the Anderson Cancer Centre, University of Texas, Houston, USA.

The final day of the conference was held at the Link Natural Products campus at Dompe. The delegates participated in a field visit to the Manufacturing Facility and the Research and Development Laboratories. The academic sessions were conducted at the new Link Natural Products auditorium.
