Hilton Colombo Residences and Hiru TV partner to bring to life ‘Dream Wedding’
By Cheranka Mendis
Come 25 November, Ruwangi and Chamath will see their dream wedding becoming a reality as Hilton Colombo Residences together with Hiru TV (Asia Broadcasting Corporation) tie-up to present an all-expenses-paid wedding for the lucky couple.
The winners of the ‘Dream Wedding’ exhibition, the first-of-its-kind for the hotel and organised in conjunction with Hiru TV for the 50th program of ‘Mangalam,’ the duo was picked from among 2,000 participants in April this year. A host of industry professionals have come forward to ensure that their dream nuptials become a reality.
“Miracles do happen”
“Miracles do happen in real life,” the couple said at a press conference on Tuesday. “We are so happy and believe ourselves to be the luckiest couple in the world. Everyone has been very supportive and enthusiastic in making our dream wedding come true. It is sure to be an unforgettable ceremony, celebrated with those closest to heart.”
Of the exhibition held in April this year, the couple noted that it was a one-stop-shop for those interested in gathering ideas and information about managing and arranging a wedding. “We walked around and gathered so much information from florists, photographers, beauticians, attire, settings, etc.” Thanks to the event and the lucky draw win, they have been able to fast forward the ceremony from the initial plan of hosting it in 2014.
Ultimate wedding destination
Having gained popularity as being the ultimate wedding destination that offers a five-star experience in the heart of Colombo with personalised service to guarantee all finer details with the best in class service team, the hotel team will be in full force to make the day a unforgettable one, Hilton Colombo Residences General Manager Manesh Fernando said.
“All efforts are in place to ensure that everything works out seamlessly,” Fernando said. The dream wedding team will start preparations from 24 November.
The wedding will take place at the Union Ballroom – a 1,140 sq ft space with elegant and modern decoration, colourful lighting and stylish furnishing. The ballroom can accommodate up to 850 guests. It was refurbished late last year at a cost of US$ 3 million. A green ballroom with LED lighting, the hotel has a designated kitchen for the ballroom equipped with some of the latest state-of-the-art technology to cook efficiently as well.
“Objective achieved”
Hilton Colombo Residences Conferences and Events Manager Nirekshe Perera said: “The objective of hosting a wedding exhibition, as we did early this year, was to engage the couples with the finest suppliers in the wedding industry. These merchants have been able to advice brides from the very beginning to ensure the success of the wedding, be it grooming, dressing or looking in to finer elements such as beauty care. We believe our objective was achieved.”
The wedding will be telecast live on Hiru TV. Services related to bridal and grooms attire, beauticians, florists, music and sounds, cake, card and cake box printing has been/will be taken care of by partnering merchants.
