Suranga Fernando of Colombo 4 won three return air tickets to Singapore in an exciting and one of a kind promo for all dads in the country conducted by Sri Lanka’s leading menswear specialist, Hameedia. A letter by his daughter Kiyara Fernando (a Grade 5 student at Bishop’s College) about her father was among the hundreds of entries received from different parts of Sri Lanka over a two-and-a-half week period. In addition to the grand prize, 15 lucky families were also invited to dinner and treated to a five-star dining experience at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo. “This has by far been our most superlative Fathers Day promo in recent times. The enthusiasm it generated was overwhelming while some of the entries were inspiring and moving. A significant feature was the large number of entries from outstations thus indicating that events of this nature are not confined to Colombo alone,” Hameedia Managing Director Fouzul Hameed said. Winner of the return air tickets to Singapore Suranga Fernando said: “I was very surprised and happy to win not one, but three tickets. When it comes to fashion I know that Hameedia does things in style. When it came to the ‘Fathers Day’ promotion, it didn’t disappoint us either. The evening was well organised in a charming manner and the gifts made it all the more special. I was also impressed by Hameedia’s CSR projects such as ‘My Friend’ which have rendered a great service to the youth in this country. When my daughter wrote the winning essay, she never showed it to me. It was only after we were invited to the ‘Winners’ Dinner’ that she showed it to me. Her description about me brought tears to my eyes.” In a promotion running from 15 May to 2 June, all members of the Hameedia Loyalty Club were invited to write a short article under the topic ‘What makes your Father special’ and send the article along with a recent photograph of the family to the Hameedia Head Office in Ratmalana. Eminent trainer and motivational speaker Dhammika Kalapuge was also present at the occasion to deliver a speech on ‘The Values of a Father’ before going on to select the lucky winner of the raffle draw. Hameed added: “Sri Lanka is now part of the international tradition of celebrating Father’s Day. It is now an event which is a regular feature in the Sri Lankan calendar and celebrated by thousands of people in this country. This competition was one that included not only the father, but also the entire family. We were happy to give our customers the chance of nominating their role models whose character inspires one to be a better individual. This also ties up with our tag line ‘Real Men,’ through with which we encourage Sri Lankans to be real men by wearing original, real clothes.”
