‘Machan’ nominated for film of the decade at Venice Film Festival

Everyone in Sri Lanka has watched the movie ‘Machan’ which narrates a synopsis based on a true story about the Sri Lankan handball team that participated at a tournament in Italy. Italian director, co-writer and producer Uberto Pasolini tested new waters as a feature film director through ‘Machan’.
This time around, ‘Machan’ has been nominated as the ‘Film of the Decade’ at the 10th anniversary of the Venice Days section of the Venice Film Festival which will be celebrated from 28 August to 7 September 2013.
“We want the audience to choose the network the Movie of the Decade: The author and the work that best represents the spirit of the days, what has been the most loved, what they would like to see or see again. Together with the committee of experts, we selected 50 films not to be missed, including all those that in recent years have made history,” stated the Venice Days Committee in a statement.
A maximum of five titles can be nominated by a person. Voting ends on 20 August 2013. Fans can vote via the Venice Days Facebook page or website www.venice-days.it.
