Sri Lanka’s most celebrated authentic Japanese restaurant Nihonbashi had extra reasons to celebrate its 18th anniversary recently, having also being adjudged No.38 in the ‘Asia’s 50 best Restaurants’ list for 2013 as well as being ranked ‘The Best Restaurant in Sri Lanka’.
Dharshan Munidasa – one of Sri Lanka’s most successful chefs and restaurateurs – along with his team, has created a world-class establishment in Sri Lanka and has reached new heights in international repute, being featured in the Japan Times and international eating guide the Miele Guide.
“Our 18th year has been one of our finest,” says Dharshan, “We have had a number of successes, from winning the best restaurant in Sri Lanka, to being rated amongst the best restaurants in Asia, and upgrading our Honten restaurant by opening a one-of-a-kind Yakitori Garden to expand our menu repertoire for our loyal customers. All in all there have been some wonderful achievements for the restaurant and the team. I look forward to many more years of plating up the best Japanese cuisine in the country.” To mark this milestone, Dharshan has created a spectacular taster menu for two aptly titled ‘Nihonbashi’s 10 Best’ priced at Rs. 10,000 nett and available from 28 June onwards for dinner only, which he introduces here. - Pix by Daminda Harsha Perera
