The elegantly poised restaurant gives you the alternative of sitting inside and viewing the chefs at the exhibition kitchen sizzle up your order, or you could choose to sit outside by the water pond and soak in the ambiance.
Everything from a variety of local fish to imported mussels, crabs, prawns, lobster or sprats are on the diverse menu and is served with a choice of sauces including Italian salsa verde, Thai red curry, lime and chilli, sweet chilli, lemon butter, thermidore and tamarind.
Choose what you want from the catch of the day and leave the rest up to the restaurant’s expert chefs who have mastered Thai, Chinese, Indian, continental and local flavours, so your culinary cravings won’t go unsatisfied. And if you are a vegetarian or meat lover accompanying a seafood fan, then rest assured, vegetarian and meat options are available upon request.
The restaurant has a special business lunch on weekdays with three diverse set menu options, presenting a quick but delicious meal for the discerning businessman or woman, ideal for a swift lunch break, a business meeting or treating a client.
The Lagoon also offers a family Sunday lunch buffet ‘Maalu Maalu’, laying out an authentic Sri Lankan seafood spread prepared in a traditional manner, for Rs. 1,600 (plus taxes), with a 50% discount on selected beverages as well as free pool usage. Kids below the age of 12 are entitled to half rate. While the menu varies each Sunday, you are likely to catch some mouth-watering Sri Lankan spicy seafood fried rice, spicy thick coconut crab curry, modha with mustard curry or a cuttlefish tempered spicy.
The buffet offers over 50 dishes, including traditional Sri Lankan desserts such as curd and treacle, wattalappam and woodapple mousse.
The Lagoon’s wide-ranging wine list and refreshing fresh fruit juices as well as interesting dessert menu with options such as the butterscotch cheese pudding, Malibu ice cream, knickerbocker glory and strawberry and anis semifreddo, to name a few, ensures a fitting finale to your seafood experience.
