Odel relaunches first store at Dickman’s Road

Twenty years after its manifestation at Dickman’s Road in 1990, the first ever Odel store has re-launched for business after comprehensive refurbishment.

The Dickman’s Road store was the initial step in the remarkable evolution of Odel into Sri Lanka’s premier fashion and lifestyle brand.

Designated as a ‘Warehouse’ outlet for several years, the refurbishment has given the Dickman’s Road Store a sleek new look, improved facilities, a wider product offering and more parking and the outlet has been upgraded to a regular Odel store, the company said.

“The re-launch of our very first store is an evocative milestone and is of symbolic significance,” said Otara Gunawardene, founder and CEO of Odel. “As we progress on our new phase of urban expansion, it is fitting to bring this outlet on par with the many others that followed it.”

In the two decades since its opening at Dickman’s Road, the Odel brand has grown exponentially to 13 trend defining outlets. Following a milestone IPO in July this year the company has announced further expansion plans that include new stores in Kiribathgoda and Wattala in FY 2010 – 11.

The refurbished Dickman’s Road Store, which comprises of 1,165 square feet of retail space, accommodates a ‘Backstage’ section and the Men’s, Ladies and Kids departments. The store is open for business seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Odel chain now comprises of stores at, Alexandra Place, Maharagama, Kohuwala, Mount Lavinia, Moratuwa, Panadura, Nugegoda (Warehouse), Dickman’s Road, Ja-ela, Majestic City, Crescat (Backstage), Battaramulla and at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
