JAPANESE Conductor Keiko Kobayashi returns to conduct the SOSL on 31 October at the Ladies’ College Hall. She will be accompanied by Ado Kihara who will perform Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1, which is “considered a gem in the instruments repertoire”. Dushy Perera will be the other soloist in the Dvorak Cello Concerto, noted as “one of the finest cello concertos ever to grace the concert platform”.
Both soloists are eminent musicians and you can look forward to an evening of high class performances. The SOSL will perform Copland’s El Salon Mexico which is a “musical potpourri” of Mexican folk tunes and Barber’s Adagio for Strings, which is considered by many to be the most popular of orchestral works of the 20th century.
Japan Foundation is the main sponsor of this concert, enabling the Japanese musicians to perform in Colombo, while Asian Alliance Insurance is the local sponsor.
Tickets and box plan are at Titus Stores, Liberty Plaza.
