Dark spots, pigmentation and uneven skin tone is a common affliction suffered by women in their thirties and above. If left untreated, it can even cause severe damage to the skin. Brown skinned women like Asians and Latinos are more likely to be afflicted than their fair-skinned European cousins, leaving them with brown and grey-brown patches on their skin.

The major cause of pigmentation is of course exposure to the sun. Other contributory factors such as hormonal changes and endocrine disorders are further aggravated by sun exposure. According to the WHO INTERSUN program, UV radiation levels in Sri Lanka ranges from eight (very high) to 12 (extreme), exacerbating the condition for the Sri Lankan woman.

Unlike freckles which are genetic, pigmentation is entirely acquired, that is, it is caused by environmental factors. Thus, it is also treatable.

Available treatments however focus on the external – chemical therapies like topical depigmenting agents (creams and lotions that block melanin production) and chemical peels, or expensive mechanical means such as microdermabrasion and laser treatment, which are often accompanied by side effects such as irritation, peeling and photo sensitivity (sensitive to light).

To combat pigmentation in an easy, safe and effective manner, Mega Lifesciences will soon introduce Pynocare, an oral solution that treats pigmentation internally, at the root level.

MegaLifesciences is a leading pharmaceutical company with a presence in more than 30 countries. It has research and development facilities in Thailand and Australia, which are accredited by the German, Australian and Thai Food and Drug Administrations. A number of internationally acclaimed brands in the areas of skincare and beauty, women’s health, weight management, body firming and general nutrition which are market leaders in many countries come under the umbrella of the Mega brand.

“Mega Lifesciences is a ‘thinking organisation’ that is known for innovating quality products that essentially make people’s lives better. Pynocare is but one fruit borne from that ethic. It will be the only oral solution to successfully treat dark spots, pigmentation and uneven skin tone in Sri Lanka. Pynocare is already successfully sold in Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia. In fact, Miss Malaysia Fitness 2004, Meei Liew, is an ardent fan of the product,” said Ruchira Welipitiya, Brand Manager, Pynocare.

The pine bark and sea weed extracts found in each soft gel capsule of Pynocare form a cocktail of powerful antioxidants with strong anti-inflammatory properties 50 times more potent that vitamins C and E. Together with ActisomeTM delivery technology which ensures increased absorption of the active ingredients.

It fights damaging free radicals which trigger pigmentation, as well as repairs and strengthens skin. In fact, it delays the natural skin aging process.

Veteran cosmetologist Ramani Arsecularatne who heads the Ramani Arsecularatne International Academy of Cosmetology and Fine Arts – the only South Asian recipient of the International Star – Gold Award – by the Business Initiatives Direction International Star for Quality Convention commented: “If we don’t look good, we don’t feel good, which means we lose our self esteem which in turn affects our life at work, home and with friends – all that is important to us. But as working women and mothers we can’t afford to hide in our homes all day. Nor do we have the time to spend hours every week undergoing treatments that sometimes leave our skin even more sensitive.”

“That’s why Pynocare is so great. Not only is it safe and effective, but very easy as well. All you have to do is take two capsules a day after a meal, continuously for 12 weeks. You don’t have to spend several minutes every day applying creams, or several hours at the salon. It’s perfect for the modern woman who has it all.”

Pynocare has been evaluated by Spin Control Institute, France (a world class research laboratory) and is clinically proven to be an effective treatment leading to significant results. A double-blinded crossover control study performed at HUKM (Hospital University Kebangsaan Malaysia) proved the same.
