Saffron Foods, a fully owned subsidiary of Expolanka Holdings PLC, had humble beginnings fifteen years ago as a cuisine company that started off as a small central kitchen providing meals for Expolanka employees and has now expanded its operations by growing to become a behemoth in the Sri Lankan cuisine industry. These chefs, with over two decades of experience in the industry having formerly worked in both local and international hotels, for airlines and VVIPs. The modern Saffron kitchen is located on a sprawling 5000 square feet of land in Orugodawatta, Avissawella and is equipped with state of the art technology. It has the capacity of producing 5,000 meals per session which are cooked and packed according to internationally accepted hygiene standards. Approximately 500,000 plus meals were prepared during the last financial year and presently 3,500 meals are cooked and packed for customers and key clients daily. Food hygiene standards While presently being audited and reviewed towards gaining internationally renowned and accepted food hygiene certificates, Saffron’s staff practices only the utmost in food hygiene standards. Owing to the perfect combination of experience and premium quality ingredients, the food that leaves the Saffron’s kitchen always have that authentic home cooked flavour locked in. With a minimum of at least 3,500 meals leaving the Saffrons kitchens on a daily basis these numbers stand as a testament to the patronage, flavours and hygiene standards maintained at Saffrons. “From the beginning Saffron was intent on providing healthy, nourishing meals to our customers.
