Santore Bistro Italiano opens

Santore Bistro Italiano opened its doors to the public recently at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association premises, promising to serve up authentic Italian cuisine ranging from pizzas, panzerotti, rustici, croissant breads and other delicacies. A well-manicured garden greets the diners at the entrance to the dining area, turning the venue in to a family friendly environment. A special area designated for kids makes it a pleasant spot to chill-out and enjoy your favourite Italian pizza in a cosy and child-friendly atmosphere. A spiral staircase leads the diners to the restaurant’s rooftop space which will soon house a Mediterranean style bar. Another prominent feature of the restaurant is the Italian cinnamon wood fired pizza oven that can bake 180 pizzas an hour. Santore Bistro Italiano Director Antonio Ciocia said: “The oven was specially imported from Italy and with the assistance of our builders in Sri Lanka was assembled in the restaurant. Domenico Capodiferro our very own Italian Pizza Chef and Head Chef of Santore Bistro Italiano will ensure the consistency of quality and flavour of our pizzas. Santore will also add southern Italian culinary delights to its menu introducing a variety of dishes. All the ingredients that are used to prepare these items are imported from Italy allowing the diners to taste the true flavours of Italian food.”

Antonio’s mother will also be involved in training the chefs in the preparation of the traditional southern Italian dishes and promises to share a secret family recipe that has been in the family for over a century. Speaking of the speciality pizzas, Antonio stated that the restaurant will serve13 inch pizzas and will be priced affordably. The kitchen will also accommodate customised food menus provided that the requirements are informed 24 hours prior to the reservation. Santore Bistro Italiano can be booked for private events and can accommodate 120 guests at its fullest capacity. The restaurant facilitates dine-in, as well as take-away orders. The restaurant is built in such a way that each servicing counter has its own entrance, allowing the diners to enjoy efficient service.
