Kumaran and Ritu Kumaran will be gracing the event as the chief guests.   Organised for the second consecutive year, SBI-Sthree Utsav 2013 will host a fashion show featuring exclusive designer wear by La Robe and choreographed by Judy-Muller, followed by a performance of one of Sri Lanka’s famed percussion band Elephant Foot. “Sthree Utsav is a much anticipated event on the social calendar not just for the 750 members of the Sri Lanka India Society. “Sthree Utsav” is as an event that will help to foster camaraderie and create new friendship among members and other guests who attend the event,” said the Sri Lanka India Society President Attorney-at-Law Kandiah Neelakandan. The Sri Lanka India Society is the oldest friendship society in Sri Lanka now in the 64th year and has a membership of over 750, a mix of both Sri Lankans and Indians. “The event is combination of fashion, fusion and glamour. We have done a host of events that include cricket matches and dinners, but this will be something unique and different,” said Revlon Lanka General Manager T.S. Prakash who is also the Project Chairman of the Event and the Vice-president of the society. A number of performances have been lined up for the upcoming evening to entertain the attending guests. The line up includes choreographed dances fused with Sri Lankan and Indian cultural elements. The theme chosen for this year’s event is ‘Red’ which will undoubtedly add vibrancy and colour to the festivities. “Sthree Utsav is to take place at the newly refurbished Crystal Ballroom at the Taj Samudra, and unlike the previous event, two floors have been segmented to include the veracity of the event,” added Prakash. “However Sthree Utsav 2013 would not be possible if not for the main sponsorship by the State Bank of India which has been serving both communities since 1864 as well as BlueScope Lysaught Lanka providing total building solutions and Brandix who are the co-sponsors as well as Revlon that adding glamour and colour to the event,” he added. The society is known for holding the Annual India Republic Day Dinner, India Independence Day Dinner, Saathme family get-together and the ‘Piramal Cup’ cricket match between Indian High Commission Officials and Sri Lanka India Society members.
