The Association of Bourgeois Colombo Decadence presents: SCATCAT! A night of conscious rap, hip hop and live looping beatboxing kaleidoscopic grooves, featuring: Larry T Hill: Melodic misfit, pitch pirate and rhythmic rascal Larry T Hill ain’t all about the music. He will make you grin, giggle and groove. His thing is singing and beatboxing live tunes with a loop pedal. It’s kinda like a tea party with Bobby McFerrin’s grandkids, then Reggie Watts arrives and digs up a lyrical Frank Zappa from the sandpit. Cheeky poetry in motion and sweet music in poetry. Come to a place where amusement abounds in curious sounds. Fun for grownups and little people too. Huzni & Sash: With roots reaching way back to ’96, Huzni had his first start as an emcee in Brown Boogie Nation. Teaming up with the soulful vocalist that is Sash, this dynamic duo has a message that is all about social equality, economic freedom, political discrimination, racial and religious hatred and anything that can genuinely affect us in real life. Huzni believes music can be used to influence positive thought. *imaad majeed: Known better for his repertoire as a singer-songwriter, with hits such as My Love and the fan favourite Bug Eyes, an asterisk to his name and lower case for humility finds the poet turning spoken word to rap to trap beats, trip-hop and downtempo grooves. While his subject matters have sparked controversy, there’s no self-censorship in his lyrics. Dush & Malin: Two young, aspiring rappers, Dush & Malin are just done with his exams and will be performing their first opening act together. Tickets are priced at Rs. 200 and proceeds go direct to artistes. Yes 101 and Home Grown are media sponsors of this event. SCATCAT is on tonight (21), from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Charcoal Gallery Café, Hotel Road, Mt. Lavinia.
