The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind is an approved charity, with three schools under its purview, two at Ratmalana and one at Kaithady, Jaffna. The total student population in the three schools is in excess of 600 and being Government assisted schools, the state provides limited funds.

While the total annual recurrent expenditure is approximately Rs. 76 million, the state grant amounts to Rs. 26 million, thus the Board of Trustees annually need to raise Rs. 50 million to bridge the deficit of the recurrent expenditure.

This being the centenary year of the Ratmalana schools, the Resource Development Committee of the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind is planning on printing season’s greeting cards as a fund raising project, with paintings done by the children at the school for the deaf appearing on the card.  The income from this project will be channeled for the education and welfare of the children in the schools’ care. A similar project was carried out a few years back and it was a great success.

The cards can be printed with individual company details if so desired, and will be reasonably priced. This project is handled by the Resource Development Committee (RDC) of the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind.
