Being the pioneer and leader in innovative social and digital media marketing in the banking industry in Sri Lanka, Seylan Bank has launched another innovative platform for the kids of the country to showcase their talents. The first-ever online art gallery was launched at the Seylan Tikiri Kids Art Award Ceremony which was held on 6 December. The kids’ art competition was hosted by the Seylan Bank Facebook page initially coinciding with World Children’s Day in order to create a platform for the youngsters of the country to showcase their talents. Children from two years to 12 years had taken part in this competition and finally 80 selected Tikiri kids were rewarded at the ceremony. The specialty of the competition was that apart from receiving a certificate, gift voucher and a valuable gift pack the drawings of these kids were uploaded on the Seylan Facebook Page as an online gallery where it could be shared, liked and commented. This memory was for a lifetime. Even a two-year-old, at a very tender age received a certificate for the passion that they had for drawing. This will certainly be a stepping stone for all these kids to be great artists in the future. The first-ever online art competition in the industry was launched by Tilan Wijeyesekera, Deputy General Manager – Marketing at Seylan Bank PLC, and he said: “As a bank that always innovates and adds value to our customers through novel methods, this is another step taken by the bank to inculcate the habit of showcasing their talents even at a very young age in the same manner that we strive to inculcate the habit of savings among the next generation of our country.” Seylan Bank, the bank with a heart, has been the pioneer in social and digital media in the banking industry in Sri Lanka, and to date is the number one bank on Facebook in the banking industry. Seylan Bank’s social and digital media was honoured and rewarded at several award ceremonies this year and the ‘Best Use of Social Media’ award won at the Global Marketing Excellence Awards 2014 organised by the World Marketing Congress and the Customer Engagement Award organised by Asian Customer Engagement forum are notable accomplishments. Wijeyesekera concluded: “Seylan Bank frequently organises various engaging activations through its social media efforts and frequently rewards the banks loyal fans through numerous opportunities. We would like to invite more potential fans to simply like our Facebook page and experience a truly rewarding experience. The bank is also in the process of launching its seasonal CSR campaign where the banks fans could interact with the bank and the bank would be contributing some much-needed funds to a selected orphanage and elders’ home.”
