The South African jazz singer Kgomotso Xolisa Mamaila is back in Sri Lanka and will start performing once again at the Hilton Colombo’s Thorana Lounge together with male vocalist Nathi, also from South Africa, from 3 September until the end of November. The lounge will come alive nightly from Tuesday to Saturday, 8.30 p.m. onwards.
Xolisa, who was born in a small town in South Africa, has been passionate about music from an early age. In 2000, she studied music at Eastside College, South Africa where she majored in vocal training. From that point, it had been a continuous journey in the music industry. Kgomotso has also played with one of South Africa’s best Afro jazz bands.
In 2007, Kgomotso recorded a single in a collaboration album called ‘Classix’ where she performed with many well-known names during the promotion of the album. This time, she will be performing with jazz singer Nathi who is equally talented and has a wealth of experience in the music industry. Having studied at one of the best music schools, at Eastside College, Johannesburg, Nithi is also a composer, producer and a pianist.
The Thorana Lounge is a venue that boasts a relaxed atmosphere with the serene beauty of the lotus pond, a place to chill out whilst listening to live music and enjoying award winning cocktails, mocktails, speciality coffees and teas.
