Imported by Liberty Cinemas, the much awaited 2013 American science fiction action film ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ will be released in Sri Lanka today.
The movie is all set to be screened in Amity Lite Maharagama, whereas the 3D version will be shown in Majestic Cinema.
The film was released yesterday in the United States of America and Canada, with IMX opening the day before.
Converted to 3D in post production, the Star Trek Into Darkness premiered at Event Cinemas in Sydney on 23 April 2013 and was released on 9 May 2013 in Australia,New Zealand, United Kingdom and parts of Europe and Peru, with other countries following. Being the twelfth installment in the Star Trek franchise, the film is the sequel to the 2009 Star Trek movie directed by J. Abrams.
Starring John Cho, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve, Bruce Greenwood, Simon peg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karn Urban Peter Weller, and Anton Yelchin, Paramount Pictures Star Trek Into Darkness is produced by its Director along with Bryan Burk, Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci. While also written by Orci, Kurtzman, and Lindelof based on ‘Star Terk’ by Gene Roddenberry, the latest movie that was filmed entirely filmed in California with a budget of US$ 185 million hit the box office with US$ 31, 700,000.
The New York magazine states that the movie is a combination “reboot” and religious revival, the Grail and Da Bomb. “It symbolically resurrects the dead and sets a course for the stars — a five-year mission that will introduce fantastical alien races and generate fantastical amounts of money. With a Star Wars picture looming, Abrams is ready for his own Vatican-like country — with a cathedral for Comic-Con conventions,” the magazine expressed about the movie in its review.
