Taj Hotels go dark!

Earth Hour is an annual event that motivates people to switch off non-essential lights for one hour between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., in an attempt to raise awareness of climate change. This year, the Taj hotels of Sri Lanka switched off their lights to support the cause.

At half past eight, when the Earth Hour began, Taj Samudra Colombo switched to candlelight. Further General Manager Rohit Khosla, management, staff and guests including the visiting English cricketers lit a big sign made out of candles that spelt out ‘EARTH’.

Manoj Mathew, the staff and his guests at Vivanta by Taj Bentota made an event of this evening. They switched to candlelight dinners at all restaurants to support earth hour.

The Gateway Hotel Airport Garden in Seeduwa also switched to candle lights at half past eight. Shekhar Walavalkar, the staff and guests at the hotel observed earth hour with great commitment.
