Craving some good old homegrown rock ‘n’ roll? The boys behind The Metaleds Feast say they just might have your fix.
Come 8 December, Sri Lanka’s finest in rock and heavy metal will take to the stage at The Metaleds Feast. The gig will be hosted at the Viharamahadevi Open Air Amphitheatre and the gates have been announced at 4 p.m.
Taking the stage are heavy metallers Hollow, White Living Grave, The Ryan Johnson Project, Destroy and Discard, Ethereal and Cry Wolf. They will be joined by the groove metal giants The Herb and the Remedy and this year’s TNL Onstage winners Audacity. Profits will be used to fund a foreign tour for the students of studio five of City School of Architecture.
“This gig is really special to us for a number of reasons,” explains Indranath Amarasinghe of White Living Grave. “Mostly because this will be our last gig with our vocalist Migara Amarasinghe for quite some time and we want to send him off in grand style.” Migara, who also happens to be Indranath’s brother, will be leaving for studies to America at the start of next year.
“White Living Grave has been such a huge part of my life and it has shaped me a great deal as a human being,” says Migara. “I really can’t imagine my life not being in the band, even if it’s for a couple of years. So this gig’s really going to be an emotional affair for me. But I can’t wait to create some havoc one last time on stage with the boys.”
Heshan Dassanayake, the drummer for White Living Grave, along with Indranath, has been a primary driving force behind putting this gig together. “This is probably the first gig of this magnitude that we’ve organised as a band,” says Heshan. “At this point it feels like one headlong rush of sleepless nights. But at the end of the day there’s this underlying feeling amongst all the bands that it’s going to be worth it once we take to the stage.”
Early bird tickets for The Metaleds Feast are priced at Rs. 300 and are available with all crew members. The crew can be contacted on any of the following numbers: 0718056179, 0774844121 or 0722653897. More information is also available at facebook.com/OfficialWLG
