The ever evolving bustling metropolis of Colombo was been imbued with an air of tranquillity recently with the opening of the Tranquil Ultra Lounge tea lounge in Colombo 7.
The creative tea lounge cum restaurant is an endeavour of parent company Natures Pride Ltd., which has been growing ‘Tranquil’ tea for over 15 years in Sri Lanka and exporting it to a variety of countries including Russia, Germany, Lithuania, Dubai and the UK.
Grown in 10 different regions, at varied elevations, the vast range of Tranquil tea is served at the Ultra Lounge. Not only are your favourite teas featured in smoothes and shakes, but the Ultra Lounge also introduces a new concept, tea lattes, a drink similar to cafe lattes that feature tea instead of espresso.
Natures Pride Chairman Parakrama Sri Nissanka commenting on the Tranquil Ultra Lounge said: “People’s lives are so busy that they have forgotten how to really enjoy their tea. What we wanted to do with Tranquil Ultra Lounge is to provide an escape from the stress of busy Colombo life, to an atmosphere of serenity and relaxation. Here one can really appreciate the delight of a cup of perfectly brewed premium Ceylon tea. Therefore, we paid special attention to the ambiance and to the brewing process; slowly brewing the tea leaves to ensure the perfect flavour and aroma.”
The ambiance at tranquil is a delight on its own, the tea lounge is located on a pristine property in the heart of Colombo, built by Sri Lanka’s most iconic architect Geoffrey Bawa.
The decor manages to traverse a delicate balance that incorporates modern elements and influences with the classic Bawa essence and emphasis on nature. Of particular note is the outdoor deck area, complete with plush seating and shisha pipes it is the quintessential picture of relaxation that Tranquil aspires to be. Tranquil’s Director Dilhan Sri Nissanka and Director/CEO Dulaksha Sri Nissanka, elaborated on their vision for the Tranquil’s future: “We are really excited to be bringing creativity and character to the tea lounge concept with Tranquil. This approach has a lot of potential as it offers customers a new and unique experience with tea, changing their perceptions in the same way that cafes all over the world changed the way people think about coffee. In the future we want to take Tranquil international, and even start thinking about how we can use tea in cocktails.”
