Trekurious launches experiences for children

Keep your kids busy every Saturday with the newly-launched Trekurious Children’s Experiences starting this month. A series of unique, interactive, and fun activities for kids of all ages, ranging from puppetry, music, cookery, the great outdoors, and drumming has been launched by Trekurious. Urban Eco Adventures with Nature Kids/Teens (six to 16 years) will give kids the chance to get outdoors and connect with nature in order to create a generation of active green citizens. Hosted by Kanchana Weerakoon the experience will be held on the first Saturday of every month at The Saturday Good Market – Racecourse. Studio Stitch for kids between six to 16 years will get kids using their hands to get creative. Using needle and thread kids will design and create creations to take home for parents and friends. Tasks are aimed at boosting confidence in kids as well as developing hand-eye coordination. Studio Stitch will be held on the first Saturday of every month at The Saturday Good Market-Racecourse. Little foodies (eight and up) will be encouraged to tap into the master chef inside them as they work their way through a range of dishes from across the globe. Kids can look forward to learning about choosing ingredients, new ways of preparing food at home under the expert guidance of Alec Van Cuylenberg  every second Saturday of the month at the Colombo Fort Café. ‘Percussion with Drum House’ is ideal for kids interested in drumming and percussion music. They will be given the opportunity to learn basic percussion skills with Dasun Fernando from Drum House. Available for children between the ages six and up, the experience will be held on the third Saturday of every month at The Saturday Good Market-Racecourse. Sulochana Dissanayake will also be introducing kids to the wonderful world of puppetry through Power of Play for children four to 12 years. Kids will bring to life their own stories as they learn to combine puppetry, movement, music, and dialogue. A great way for kids to top into their imagination and take control! Parents are welcome to join with kids under the age of four. Power of Play will be held on the first Saturday of every month at The Saturday Good Market – Racecourse. Recycle Playshop will focus on reusing and recycling material by creating works of art with Sunara Jayamanne. Children between the ages of six to 16 develop their creative skills and also learn to think about what we consume and the waste we produce as a result.
