  • Sri Lanka’s first contemporary epic fantasy series
The genre of contemporary epic fantasy fiction is growing in popularity both globally and in Sri Lanka through popular international books, TV shows and movies. Tristan’s Conquest – nights of Olympus goes a daring step further in bearing the genre of contemporary epic fantasy with a touch of local flavour, never been explored before by a Sri Lankan author. The book narrates the tale of Sri Lankan-born Tristan Ashwin Lorne, as he becomes a game-changer in the eternal combat of good against evil. The first of the Tristan’s Conquest trilogy follows his journey of self-discovery in a gripping tale that bridges worlds of ancient magic and prophecy. Meant for older teens, young adults and fans of fantasy fiction, the book brings a dimension of variety to Sri Lankan literary works in English currently in the market, and would hopefully inspire more to read locally authored works of fiction. An educative mix of mythical and classical civilisation, magic, and global contemporary issues such as social equality, philosophy, humanitarian values and morals are woven through Knights of Olympus, in an accessible, compelling and entertaining way. Visitors to the Facebook Page www.facebook.com/TristansConquest will be able to discover more about the book, character profiles and background information on the fantasy series.  The book is published under the Bay Owl Press trademark (genre free) of Perera Hussein Publishing House, a trademark that provides an eclectic space for poetry, memoirs, biographies, free form novels and short stories. The book launch was held on 18 September at Crescendo, Nelung Arts Centre and the book is now available at leading bookstores across the island.
