The ‘Mother/Son’ solo play by Jeffrey Solomon will be shown at the Goethe Hall on Sunday, 1 June at 7 p.m., free entry.
Jeffrey Solomon is an award winning writer-performer from New York. His ‘Mother/Son’ has been seen in New York, Chicago, London, as well as engagements in the Philippines, India and Sri Lanka. The play ran off Broadway at the Kirk Theater on Theater Row in a performance hailed by the NY TIMES, and San Diego’s Diversionary Theater.
On Monday, 2 June, Ashok Ferrey will be in conversation with Jeffrey Solomon and Rosanna Flamer-Caldera of Equal Ground at the University of the Visual & Performing Arts auditorium. This program will be from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the audience invited are mostly university students (English and Drama) from Universities of Visual & Performing Arts, Colombo, Kelaniya and Sri Jayawardene Pura with academics. This is open to journalists, artists, activists and other interested groups.
Jeffrey Solomon’s award-winning solo play was inspired by his mother’s poignant, and often hilarious, journey out of the closet as the parent of a gay son. Critically acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic, Emmy nominated writer-performer Jeffrey Solomon plays both mother and son in a performance Time Out London calls, “Profound, witty...Disarmingly funny and deeply moving...a tour de force!”
