Urban Kitchen, popular among patrons for its extensive menu, laid back ambience and exquisite food, has introduced its latest menu, bursting with delectable options that are sure to satisfy taste buds, regardless of the type of cuisine one craves.

With a whopping 233 choices inspired by Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Malaysian, Thai, European and Middle Eastern cuisines, patrons will be forgiven for pouring over the menu for much longer than usual. But with so many mouth watering selections, several visits will be required to try out all of the dishes that catch one’s attention.

While most of the existing dishes have been given a new twist by varying the combinations of ingredients, almost half of the dishes on the current menu are brand new additions.

Combining their efforts, Head Chef Jerome La Brooy and Executive Sous Chefs Nishad Jayawardena and Mohamed Azmi, have infused a unique touch to several standard dishes such as burgers, pizzas and sandwiches turning them into Urban Kitchen specialities. They have also teamed up to create sumptuous international cuisine that is not only delicious, but also reasonably priced.

The new 25-page menu features an assortment of starters and snacks, soups and salads, sandwiches and wraps, burgers, pizzas, pastas and risottos, sushi, sashimi and rotis, not to mention a revamped choice of hot and cold beverages. Vegetarians too have an extensive choice of over 30 dishes to choose from and a special corner of the menu is dedicated specially for kids.

For a quick snack or an appetizer before a large meal, the Urban Nachos – cheese, salsa fresco, sour cream, frijoles and fresh guacamole on a bed of crisp tortilla corn chips – are a popular choice. Peking Duck Pockets – crispy skinned roast duck served with pancakes, cucumber, spring onions and hoisin sauce – is another favourite. The chefs also recommend the Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls, available in a choice of fillings including prawn, chicken or vegetable.

While the roasted tomato soup served with spiced feta cheese and croutons can be the perfect start to a meal, Urban Kitchen’s choice of Ramen can make a flavourful main meal by themselves. Fuji Ramen is an assorted seafood noodle soup base topped with prawns, squid, crab stick, hardboiled egg, tofu, bamboo, shoots, wakame seaweed, fish cake, baby spinach and spring onions.

The Kari Chicken Ramen will set off zesty flavours owing to the red chillies, coriander and mint leaves and shallots that season this noodle based soup. One of the favourite dishes as a main meal is the Creole Jambalaya, which is a spicy rice casserole with chicken chorizo, chicken and seafood.

Urban Kitchen has also added to its already extensive selection of pizzas, pastas and risottos. Roast Duck features as a topping on the restaurant’s latest pizza along with harissa spiced hoisin sauce, cucumber, grilled onions and feta cheese. Originating in Louisiana, the Cajun Prawn Pasta presents a unique flavour with its cajun spice coated prawns cooked with onions, garlic, spring onions and parsley.

The Yellow Fin Tuna Pasta is another new addition that the chefs are particularly proud of. It features char grilled sashimi grade yellow fin tuna steak served with spinach tagliatelle. The Crab and Lemon Grass Risotto has an interesting combination of flavours.

Rapidly gaining popularity since it first opened its doors two years ago, the Urban Kitchen has drawn a varying clientele including corporate workers, young people and families. The Urban Kitchen prides itself on serving fresh, wholesome, delicious food for some of the most competitive prices. Value for money is what the restaurant guarantees, and what keeps the elegant modern diner full of satisfied customers. With this formidable new menu, the restaurant will no doubt succeed in amplifying its already growing appeal.
