Honouring local culture and tradition, Cinnamon’s city hotels – Cinnamon Grand, Cinnamon Lakeside and Cinnamon Red – were illuminated this Vesak, with unique décor conceptualised and developed in-house by the hotels’ engineering teams.
As the most sustainable hotel in Sri Lanka, Cinnamon Grand connected recycling with vibrant designs, creating Vesak lanterns with used water bottles. Led by Chief Engineer Panduka Wijewardane, the engineering team utilised 13,200 bottles used by hotel’s guests for this endeavour. The hotel’s village in the city Nuga Gama took on a more traditional theme and even hosted a two-day saruwath dansala where over 700 cups were served, for the seventh consecutive year.
Cinnamon Lakeside and Cinnamon Red’s decoration followed the colour scheme of the Buddhist flag, lighting up the property with hues of blue, yellow, red, white and orange. Cinnamon Red also displayed spectacular lotus flowers created with the use of rice lights.
