Wedding wishes

The international media is a-buzz with news of Prince William and Catherine Middleton’s wedding. In Sri Lanka, the winners of the Royal Wedding Facebook competition were announced on 28 April 2011 on the eve of the wedding.

Thilini Perera and Zee Zubair posted the most eloquent messages sending warm wishes to the happy couple on their big day.  Each wins a Royal Wedding Commemorative Coin, issued by the British Royal Mint to mark the occasion.

British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, John Rankin, said “we are delighted to see so many people sending their good wishes to Prince William and Catherine Middleton. We are especially grateful to all those who entered our competition on Facebook.  It was a very difficult task to select the winners and I congratulate Thilini Perera and Zee Zubair on winning the prize – a coveted, limited edition, Royal Wedding Commemorative £5 Coin.”
