WNPS lecture on ‘Freshwater Fishes of Sri Lanka and their Conservation’

The Wildlife and Nature Protection Society of Sri Lanka will hold its monthly lecture on 24 April at 6:15 p.m. at the Department of Meteorology Auditorium, 383, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7.
This month’s lecture titled ‘Freshwater Fishes of Sri Lanka and their Conservation’ will be delivered by Madura Anusha de Silva, the President of the Wildlife Conservation Society of Galle.
De Silva has been the Principal Investigator for a number of conservation projects, including the currently ongoing National Freshwater Fishes Survey, which commenced in 2011.
His wide-ranging research interests cover fruit bats, venomous snakes, purple-faced leaf monkeys, dragon flies and biodiversity surveys in Galle and Matara Districts.
De Silva is also the Principal Investigator in the first in situ conservation program for the rare tree hole dwelling frog Ramanella nagaoi of Southern Sri Lanka.
