Once again the Institute of Hairdressers and Beauticians (IHB) sponsors a series of programs on the latest world trends in hairdressing, the Prestige Club collection and the Organisation Mondiale Coiffure (OMC) Academy, the first of which was held on 5 May 2013, offering all manner of focused information for the hairdressing profession.
Spearheading the programs is OMC Director Joakim Roos, who will be assisted by the dynamic World Championships 2013 Silver Medal winner Emma Ekman. IHB, taking advantage of the presence of these experts in the industry has been able to offer top stylists in Colombo and 18 from Mumbai, Rajasthan and Delhi exclusive benefits at the public seminar and a 3-day OMC Bronze Diploma course held recently at the Bishop’s College Auditorium. The high level of commitment shown by both stylists and trainers resulted in the honing of professional skills of the participants.
Emma Ekman will remain in Sri Lanka to train all salon staff and IHB students on Bridal and long hair-styling, colour and cuts, which is certain to motivate the students to aim for higher standards. IHB through Emma, hopes to raise the bar even further and give them new insights into the industry to help them achieve their full potential. IHB Educational Workshops will be conducted in Colombo, Gampaha, Matara, Anuradhapura, Ratnapura and Negombo, including programs for the Tamil TV stations and the North.
“Participants have at their disposal not only a high-quality series of workshops, but also a comprehensive and informative source of creative and inspirational demonstrations with some first-class experts,” explains IHB Board of Governors member and SLAHAB founder President Nayana Karunaratne. “Such a wide and clearly structured range is unique in the sector and is highly appreciated by our hairstylists. The quality and content of the events mirror the success of such workshops and thus enjoy an excellent reputation amongst both companies and hairdressers alike. To uphold this reputation, we develop our range of services from year to year in the interests of hairdressing professionals.”
IHB is accredited to the World Federation of Hairdressers (OMC) and functions as an independent and professional institution that conducts hairdressing and beauty therapy examinations that are recognised both locally and internationally. IHB education encourages students to sit for UK based City & Guilds and locally conducted NVQ examinations along with IHB qualifications.
