Petroleum transportation by rail to increase from 38% to 60%.

The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Energy have jointly decided to increase the transportation of petroleum by rail from the current 38% to 60%. The decision was taken to reduce the high level of traffic congestion, pollution and accidents on roads as the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation currently distributes petroleum throughout the island using bowsers on highways.
