The Mahiyangana Raja Maha Vihara is an ancient Buddhist temple in Mahiyangana, Sri Lanka, equally popular among Sri Lankans and non Sri Lankans alike. The latest group of foreign devotees of the Dharma of loving kindness as preached by the most Enlightened One, the Buddha, included a large group of Europeans mostly from Germany and also Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the United States.
This group, numbering about 35, comprised those in diverse professions but with a calling for healing through the route of Mother Earth and the universal consciousness facilitated by mind based energy focus.
Headed by Annette Muller, the group paid their respects to the chief prelate of the temple, the most Ven. Urulewathe Dambana Rakitha Thero. Portrayed below are pictures related to the pilgrimage of this group known as Healers Beyond Boundaries, who are students of the universal teachings of consciousness and focus of mental energy.
The Mahiyangana Raja Maha Vihara is believed to be the site of Gautama Buddha's first visit to the island, and is one of the solosmasthana, the 16 sacred religious locations in Sri Lanka. It is a significant archaeological site in the country.
