Marking the end of yet another year in which the Harmony page dedicated space to knowledge, ranging from comparative spirituality, environment conservation/mother earth protection and using entrepreneurship, traditional knowledge as well as literature, the arts and culture for peace building, today we feature exclusive interviews with two renowned authors, Shalini Amerasinghe Ganendra and Rohan Pethiyagoda.
Last week we reviewed the books; Veins of Influence by Shalini Amerasinghe Ganendra and Green Gold: the discovery of Sri Lanka’s Biodiversity by Rohan Pethiyagoda.
The interviews today with the respective authors cover content about their publication/s as well as their chosen disciplines and overall commentaries on related matters.
These interviews are integrated with our aim in assisting where possible, the process of national policy inspiration/ideation, in a bid to bridge the gap between progressive national policy and the role of the mass media to inspire it by featuring local and international experts. In this regard we have throughout the year featured local and international conferences that combine the academia with other disciplines, such as the international Harmony conference of the Vavuniya University and more recently, the symposium of the International Council for Traditions of Music and Dance, covering the events in a manner that is linked to the macro national scenario.
In 2024 the Harmony page will continue its attempt to be a catalyst in innovative media research that motivate and lead to progressive action, especially, in areas such as local and global peace, equality and nature protection.
We wish you all an introspective celebration of the year gone by and the welcoming of a brand new start.
