2nd World Disability & Rehabilitation Conference 2017 in Colombo

The 2nd World Disability and Rehabilitation Conference 2017, organised by the International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), will be held on 16 and 17 November, at Mövenpick Hotel Colombo with the participation of over 50 local and foreign delegates representing more than 15 countries. 

The WDRC2017 is chaired by Dr. Loren O’Connor - Assistant Vice Chancellor of the Office of Accessible Education and Counselling Services and Brandman University, US. The keynote forum will be represented by Dr. Pammi Raghavendra - Associate Professor in Disability and Community Inclusion, College of Nursing and Health Sciences Flinders University, Australia and Sanjeewa Tunpattu - Chief Physiotherapist/Lecturer in Physiotherapy, National Hospital of Sri Lanka and Coordinating Secretary (International Affairs), the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, Sri Lanka.

The Ministry of Social Empowerment, Welfare and Kandyan Heritage, Sri Lanka will serve as the supporting ministry for this conference while Brandman University, US and the Sri Lanka Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled (SLFRD) will be the co-hosting partners. The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Sri Lanka will provide its support as the Academic Partner of WDRC 2017.

The conference is organised under the theme ‘Inspiring Possibilities…Enhancing Opportunities for Ability’, a topic that requires special focus and attention and a platform to be addressed. WDRC 2017 is believed to be that focal point that will produce a stage for topics such as Advocacy, Public Policy and People with Disabilities, Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities, Disability Management, Growing Old with a Disability – Challenges, etc.

This certainly is an important gathering for all the stakeholders including academics, practitioners, industry experts, policymakers and researchers in the field of study relating to disability and rehabilitation. They get the opportunity from networking, knowledge-sharing and engaging with world-renowned professionals in the field of disability and rehabilitation which will be beneficial to clear up the blanked cornerstones of their career. 

The speakers and the presenters will engage in a question and answer session with the audience of the conference and the participants not only get the opportunity to listen to world-class speakers during the conference but also gain the opportunity to share their knowledge at the technical sessions. 

In addition to these, there are some other special features at the conference such as the Networking Dinner, one-to-one discussions, award ceremony and more.
